Descrição
Jeff Mills has spent a lifetime as a sonic innovator.
A founding member of legendary Detroit techno outfit Underground Resistance, he has since the mid-1980s been considered one of the world’s foremost techno producers and DJs.
But Mills has long since transcended the boundaries of pure techno, dispatching his precise, minimal compositions to the realms of film, dance, contemporary art and, now, classical music.
Light from the Outside World sees Mills work his deck-and-drummachine magic alongside the 60-piece Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, conducted by longtime Mills collaborator Christophe Mangou, for a 90-minute arrangement by Mills and film composer Thomas Roussel that weaves classical, jazz and electronica (including many of Mills’ back-catalogue classics) into a propulsive, electrifying mélange.
A futurist manifesto for the post-genre age, this is Mills at his most ambitious and exploratory – delicate, dynamic and unlike anything else you’ve ever heard.
