From producing the Scandinavian pop perfection of Youth Novels at 19 years of age to garnering an astonishing 100 million video views, Lykke Li has forged a trilogy of albums writ with the widescreen ambition of '60s string-laden classics, culminating in the heartbreaking confessionals of I Never Learn and her long-awaited return to the stage in an Opera House debut of pure, drama-driven splendour.
Emerging at the forefront of Sweden's musical invasion alongside The Knife, Robyn, Annie and her long term collaborator Bjorn Yttling of Peter, Bjorn & John, Lykke Li's beguiling evolution from patchwork electronica to a Spector-inspired songsmith belies her restless childhood. Raised across Stockholm, Morocco, Nepal, India and 'a mountain in Portugal', Li's instinctual drive has drawn her to the most idiosyncratic of collaborators. From sharing the stage with Bon Iver to writing with David Lynch, A$AP Rocky and most recently as U2's sole guest on Songs of Innocence, the 28-year-old's signature soprano has added a raw fragility perfected during the two years in-the-making I Never Learn.
Taking the blueprint of Wounded Rhymes' drum-dominated singles 'Get Some' and 'I Follow Rivers' to the shattered conclusion of producing 'power ballads for the broken', Li's restless vision has placed her in a league of songwriting greats, garnering comparisons to a noir Stevie Nicks and Marianne Faithful.
