Portico’s current musical output plays with concepts of loss and change. Bordering on the hallucinatory, their transcendent music arrives somewhere between structured pop songs and a disintegrating ambience.
Featuring founder members Duncan Bellamy, Milo Fitzpatrick and Jack Wyllie, Portico is a diffuse blend of the sublunary and the celestial where reverb drenched pianos mesh with swathes of ambient noise. Drum machines crisply puncture the air surrounded by shimmering arpeggios of synth and electric bass and guest vocalist Jono McCleery’s voice floats high above a world of textural atmosphere.
Convergence’s very special show launches Portico’s new album, Living Fields, Ninja Tune (March 2015) and features a specially commissioned lighting collaboration with Village Underground's light technician Lewis Howell.
Sharing a mutual influence of the shadowy elements of folklore and the heavier side of experimental noise, a disparate array of reference points combines to form Snow Ghosts’ bewitching and oft intoxicating sound. Ross Tones (aka Throwing Snow), Hannah Cartwright (Augustus Ghost) and Oliver Knowles (EXES) join forces to pool their individual inspirations, ideas and styles to form Snow Ghosts.
