This year, I plan to do something I began about mid-2013 and continue doing it from now on. Last year, a Facebook post by Abney Park (will have to find that post...) alerted me to something that I sort of, kind of knew existed, but never knew just how serious it is for artists and bands.
Let me put it this way.
I hate this digital age of technology. Music is not excluded. Listen to mainstream music to get an idea of what I mean—but hell no, not all of mainstream music "sucks". Just the vast majority. This is of course all opinion...but a very common and generally agreed upon opinion. Ask music critics.
Aside from that, what I mean to get to is that I hate digitally downloading music. I'm not at all saying I don't do it...but I'd much rather rip MP3s directly from an actual CD. I'm a cassette, vinyl and CD player person, you see. I'm old and classy at heart like that. It's an aesthetic I hold very dear. You have no idea how much pride I hold for my physical music collection.
