play soaps in a mental health clinic and watch the ambulances roll in. seriously some fucking suicide inducing shit, i OD'd to it twice, now i can only listen to it if im really careful. every arab strap album should come with a free coupon for a mri scan, for the sake of precaution

Yeah, they played a one off show in Sleazy's a few years back but it sold out fast since it's a small venue and they have a such a large cult following. It would be good if they could do it again, maybe even have more than one gig this time.

@AnAppleScruff: They did a few years ago, so its entirely possible they would do again.

Yeah, every release has something interesting to offer. And i can't say i dislike The Red Thread, but it feels to me like a bit of a slog to get through, even though it isn't particularly long.

I'm not entirely sure why I like it so much, it's just the one album of theirs that really clicked for me. No disrespect to the rest of their discography with that statement though. They never once put out a bad album. The Last Romance in particular does not get enough love!

but Philophobia is not only the best Arab-Strap-Record, but ranks among the best 10 records of all times. It's sadcore, really no other word for it. You can hear the hangover on a saturday/sunday morning, or simply any other day. Red Thread also has its highs.

Its not an opinion i'm acquainted with, but its nice to hear it works for some. What do you particularly like about it?

I'd say The Red Thread is their best, but I don't think many others would agree with me.

Their best: It seems most people fall on the side of either Philophobia or Monday at the Hug & Pint. I'm for the latter, though there is a lot to be said for Elephant Shoe.

Forgot how great 'The Last Romance' was. Maybe a few songs light of eclipsing 'Monday at the Hug & Pint', but a pretty brilliant way to cap a career.
