Blind Guardian é uma banda de Power Metal formada em meados dos anos 80 em Krefeld, na Alemanha. Apesar de sua origem, as músicas da banda são em inglês.

HISTORIA:
Antes de adotarem o nome Blind Guardian, os músicos da formação original lançaram um demo com o nome Lucifer’s Heritage, em 1986. Os membros da banda são: Hansi Kürsch como vocalista, André Olbrich e Marcus Siepen são os guitarristas e na bateria Frederik Ehmke A banda geralmente busca inspiração para suas músicas na cultura medieval, nas mitologias nórdica e grega e nas obras de Tolkien.

O primeiro contrato de gravação foi assinado com a No Remorse Records, um selo pequeno e independente. Mesmo tendo apenas duas semanas para a gravação, a banda conseguiu um resultado bastante positivo, lançando o CD nomeado Battalions of Fear. Esse álbum tornou-se famoso no underground alemão. Foram feitos oito shows para esta primeira turnê, todos ao lado da banda Grinder, que também havia lançado o seu debut em 1988. Os shows tiveram em média 200 pessoas, e a partir daí o público só viria a aumentar.

A gravação do próximo álbum foi um grande passo na carreira do grupo. Dessa vez teriam uma semana a mais para a gravação e ainda contaram com a participação do ilustre Kai Hansen, que havia se interessado muito pelo trabalho da banda. O resultado foi Follow the Blind, mais pesado que seu antecessor, sob forte influência da banda de thrash metal Testament. Não foi feita turnê para este álbum, pois André e Marcus estavam de Serviço Militar, contudo conseguiram fazer algumas apresentações nos fins-de-semana. A média de público aumentara, já era de 300 pessoas.

About all the others have lost at least a bit of their edge. Guardian seemingly haven't! However, I disliked A Twist in the Myth. (Disliked, as in in Blind Guardian's scale.) But, I didn't like Follow the Blind that much, either, and it was but their second album. :) -- Don't hurry, but give us the best album again pl0x! :P And/or the orchestral live DVD. But please, take your time to ensure the quality! :)

    I agree with Believe. At the Edge of time is their second best album IMO, 'tis almost perfect. A sincerely enjoyed A Twist in the Myth too. Speaking of, HURRY AND GIVE US A NEW ALBUM PL0X!

    This is actually one of the only power metal band that I wouldn't say that about. At the Edge of Time stands up well against their other albums.
