Carpathian are a hardcore punk band based in Australia. The band formed in 2003, in Melbourne, Australia, currently comprising of lead vocalist Martin Kirby, guitarists Josh Manitta and Lloyd Carroll, bassist Ed Redclift and drummer David Bichard. The members are said to all follow a vegetarian and straight edge lifestyle.
The band has done quite a number of tours on their own or with other bands over the last 7 years including some festivals like the 2007 Australian Taste of Chaos, alongside The Used, Rise Against, Aiden, Drop Dead, Gorgeous, The Bled, and Gallows. They were also in the 2008 line-up for the Soundwave festival and the 2008 Killerfest in New Zealand.
The band have had frequent line-up changes over the past few years, replacing two guitarists in late 2006. Former I Killed The Prom Queen singer Michael Crafter joined Carpathian in 2006. Vocalist Martin Kirby then moved to guitar, although Crafter left seven months later in February 2007, after which Kirby resumed his position as frontman. Michael Crafter did not sing on any of Carpathian’s recordings.
In 2008 they released Isolation which reached No. 19 on the ARIA Charts.
In circa August 2008, vocalist Martin ” Marty” Kirby set up his own record label named Dead Souls Records. The label’s first release will be a split live 7” with Shipwreck A.D. In issue number 74 of Blunt Magazine Marty said: “The last album I actually bought I can’t remember. Our label Resist looks after me with most new records I want.
