Biografia

O Dragonforce surgiu em 1999 na Inglaterra com o nome DragonHeart. Dois anos depois, uma série de problemas, incluindo o fato de já existir uma banda com esse mesmo nome obrigaram os integrantes a trocarem para o nome que usam até hoje.

Inicialmente, a banda era formada pelo vocalista Z.P. Theart, os guitarristas Herman Li e Sam Totman, o baterista Didier Almouzni e o tecladista Vadim Pruzhanov. Com essa formação gravaram o primeiro álbum, Valley of the damned. Já para o segundo trabalho, Didier saiu, deixando as baquetas para David Mackintosh. Além dele, foi recrutado também o baixista Adrian Lamber, que depois sairia para a entrada de Frédèric Leclercq. Após um conflito da banda, Z.P. Theart, o vocalista, deixou a banda, ouve uma audição e o novo vocalista foi escolhido, Marc Hudson, que mantém um estilo vocal muito idêntico do Z.P. e o mais parecido com vocalista da banda Stratovarius.

Algumas características tornam o Dragonforce uma banda difícil de se encaixar em qualquer rótulo, a começar por seus integrantes, que vêm das mais diversas partes do mundo. Apesar de terem fixado residência em Londres, os membros da banda são provenientes de Hong Kong, Inglaterra, Nova Zelândia, França, África do Sul e Ucrânia. Além disso, três deles são egressos de bandas de black metal: os guitarristas Li e Totman fizeram parte do Demoniac, uma das maiores bandas do gênero na Nova Zelândia, enquanto o baterista David Mackintosh gravou dois álbuns com os ingleses do Bal-Sagoth. Essas influências mais extremas acabam trazendo novas fontes de inspiração, que se mesclam aos elementos melódicos citados acima e criam algo único.

    My favorite rhyme of theirs is in Fury of the Storm when they rhyme "Cry for war" with "Forevermore" and then on the very next verse they rhyme "Forevermore" with "Cry for war"
