Everything But the Girl (também conhecido pela abreviação EBTG) é uma banda inglesa formada pelo casal Tracey Thorn- vocalista dona de um vocal impar- e pelo multiinstrumentista Ben Watt em 1982 em Hull/UK. Dois dos seus maiores sucessos são Missing e Wrong.
Inicialmente eles eram considerados uma banda de jazz light, no começo dos anos 80, tornou-se a vanguarda na fusão entre pop e eletrônica na década seguinte. Eles têm uma grande influência da bossa nova.
O nome pouco usual foi adoptado do slogan de uma loja de móveis de Hull, a “Turner” onde pode ver-se num letreiro- “for your bedroom needs, we sell everything but the girl!”- (Vendemos tudo o que precisa para o seu quarto, excepto a rapariga).

• A versão curta de “Five Fathoms”, do álbum Temperamental, foi apresentado no vídeo game Beatmania IIDX, com a música e vídeo apresentando Watt Thorn jogando entre outros Bemani vídeo de jogos pela Konami no London Trocadero;.
• A short version of “Five Fathoms” foi usado no filme Bar Scene
• A faixa:”Single”, é apresentada no filme Timecode;
• Tracey Thorn emprestou seus vocais para a banda Massive Attack no festejado álbum da banda: Protection.

One of the greatest groups, not only from the 80's but in music. Tracey and Ben had pure chemistry. Wish they'd get back together, they're way too great to be apart. I'm very emotionally attached to them and their music.
