I write some words about all the gigs. We start with
Peter Doherty and
Cold War Kids at lyon in France. The 26th July, a beautiful sunny day at Lyon, in the beautiful antic theatre. The Opening Act was
Cold War Kids, a great band, love their sound, great songs. It was cool for an opening act, just the bassist scared us ! Then Peter Doherty, alone, went onstage. A good gig, but not the best, i guess this is the funniest i've seen of Peter, he smiles, he laughs, he forgets the lyrics..! But some rare songs like
Breck Road Lovers,
For Lovers,
Ballad Of Grimaldi, a cover of
The Who with
Love Reign O'er Me. And a friend of mine asked him to play
Billie Jean, at first he didn't want to sing this song but with few encouragements he play
Billie Jean, a funny version, i love it ! The two french ballerinas join him on few songs, beautiful like always ! At the end of the gigs, there was a battle of pillow between 4500 people : SO AMAZING ! Peter, Adrian, Kenny, the two ballerinas (Céline and Octavie) play with the crowd, a big battle ! Unexpected but funny !
Ten days later, i was in Paris to see the project of
Damon Albarn,
Africa Express, a big night, something like 5 hours of music non-stop ! It was a Festival called Fnac Indétendance, free gigs in front of "Hotel de Ville" of Paris ! The opening act was a french band called
Housse de Racket, two french guys, it was cool, they have some great songs. Then during five hours, lots of musicians (african, british, french) went onstage to play together. We saw some hip-hop bands, i love these bands but i don't know their names...(shame on me) MAKE SOME NOISE !!! PUT YOUR HANDS UP !!!! Great memories ! Then we saw
Patrick Wolf,
Catherine Ringer,
Jamie T,
Damon Albarn,
The Kooks,
Tony Allen,
Drew McConnell,
Amadou Et Mariam, and many others that i forget... 'twas a big night!
Then few days off in Paris to visit family, and walking in the street in the beautiful city of Paris ! Then in the same festival, i saw
Charlie Winston for the second time and some others artists. I do not remember the others artists, i guess i do not love them... But
Charlie Winston was here! It was an acoustic set, and a short set, but he picked the good songs for a good set-list ! So it was a good gigs but not the best i've seen because it was an acoustic set so it was more quiet.
Here we are ! September and September = trip to London ! So happy to be there ! So we went to London, to discover this beautiful town, and to go to some gigs one each night ! The first night was the biggest gig, it was
Coldplay at THE Wembley Stadium ! I love this venue, Wembley is so beautiful ! So happy to went there! So we started our 4days/3gigs in london with
Coldplay/
Jay-Z/
Girls Aloud ! We missed the first opening act (
White Lies) because of our plane (5 hours of late...).
Girls Aloud was not very good, in fact it was rubbish, i don't love them. Just a cover of
The Pretenders I'll Stand by You, but i'd rather
The Pretenders one that i saw two month before ! So i go to the bar to take some drinks and food! Then just when i come back to my sit,
Jay-Z went onstage ! It was fucking brilliant ! I love this guy and i love this new album
The Blueprint 3 ! Some songs are just awesome like
Empire State Of Mind,
A Star is Born,
Young Forever,
Run This Town,
Death of Auto-Tune... I can't remember the set-list... (shame) but some of the best moment were on
Numb and
Empire State Of Mind ! Just a beautiful moment, just some great memories in my mind forever ! Then
Coldplay went onstage for an epic set-list of 27 songs, yes twenty-seven songs !!!!! They were joined onstage by
Jay-Z and Simon Pegg. Some songs almost makes me cry like Yellow, it was so awesome, i can't believe it.. WEMBLEY,
Coldplay,
Yellow ! Too much good things in the same time! They played a cover of
Billie Jean too, it was amazing.
Here is the set-list :
Life In Technicolor
Violet Hill
Clocks
In My Place
Yellow
Glass Of Water
Cemeteries Of London
42
Fix You
Strawberry Swing
God Put A Smile Upon Your Face
The Hardest Part
Postcards From Far Away
Viva La Vida
Lost+
Trouble
Death Will Never Conquer
Rhyming Song
Billie Jean
Viva La Vida (Remix)
Politik
Lovers In Japan
Death And All His Friends
The Scientist
Life In Technicolor II
The Escapist
Impressive, eh ?! But i found Chris were tired, his voice was not as well as on the albums.. a big tour, they surely were tired. Not the best gig i've seen, but one of the best!
The day after we visited London, then the evening we went to Chalk Farm Road to go to the
Peter Doherty's gig at the Roundhouse (beautiful venue by the way). We were there around 6pm, i was surprise they were just around twenty people. So we were well situated, at the barrier just in front of drew ! The Opening Act was
Dot Alisson, it was great, i love her voice, just few songs, too short. Then Peter went on stage with Drew, Adam, Stephen... and the two french ballerinas ! The set-list was great, some solo stuff, libertines, shambles, cover, perfect! We have the chance to have the full shambles together for some songs. Amongst all, they played
A'Rebours,
A Message To You Rudy,
The 32nd of December,
I Am The Rain (join on stage by John Robinson from Bandits),
Shepskin Tearaway (join on stage by Dot Alisson),
1939 Returning,
Bollywood to Battersea,
What a Waster. It was so energetic with the full band, they were happy to play together again ! A great gig, but i'd rather the paris'gig in march (with Graham Coxon). Unfortunately, we had to go to the hotel (to have the last tube...else we have definitely been lost !) so we can't go to the Barfly to see Adam.
Then our last night in London, we went to The Hideaway (a pub close to Tufnell Park) to see
Kieran Leonard + guests, but we don't know before going who are the guests. So we drink a beer, then we go downstairs to see the gig, a few people are there. He played few songs, it was great. Then his guitar fall... poor guitar, he sayed it was the big event on the gaslight since he played there all sundays night! Then he takes a break, so we went out of the pub, and i saw
Carl Barât, i was too happy to meet him. It was like an idol for me ! Few words exchanged, a picture.. and unfortunately we have to go, we can't miss the last tube. So i can't stay to hear the beautiful carl's voice. I'm a big fan of him (
The Libertines,
Dirty Pretty Things), so i was disapointed to can't stay. But i was too happy to meet him, it was so unexpected ! Then London was over for this time... but i'll be back in september (again) for ten days!
Then come back to Paris to see
Muse, i could not wait more time to see them, it was so awesome the first time i saw them. This time it was in Bercy, a great venue. I went to Bercy around 8am to wait all the day with some people i met there under the rain and the wind.. it was so cold there. But it was kind like always to meet new people, new fan. So after waiting all day long outside, we were in, just in front of Chris at the barrier, well situated ! The first act was
Biffy Clyro, i was discovered this band, i like, it was nice. They have some good songs, but the sounds was too loud. Then the so much awaited moment :
Muse !
I was so excited to see them again tonight, and like always they had a great enter onstage, with a good song, the atmosphere was so hot ! The curtain of each tower were down at the same time we can hear the first notes(?!) of
Uprising,
Resistance,
New Born,
Map of the Problematique,
Supermassive Black Hole,
MK Ultra,
Interlude,
Hysteria,
Nishe,
United States of Eurasia,
Cave,
Guiding Light,
Helsinki Jam,
Undisclosed Desires,
Starlight,
Plug In Baby,
Time Is Running Out,
Unnatural Selection. Encore :
exogenesis : part 1 (overture),
Stockholm Syndrome,
Knights of Cydonia (Intro The Man With An Armonica).
I was too happy, they played
Cave and
MK Ultra, these songs were awesome!
Undisclosed Desires,
Plug In Baby,
United States of Eurasia were good too, and all the others were good too in fact ! This gig was awesome but it was too short, always too short ! But i can't complain, i'll see them five days later! Oh yes, i forget to say that, Dom break his drums, it was amazing !
Three days later, i'll go to Grenoble to see
Make the Girl Dance in a club, it was weird... The band was great, i love what he played but the atmosphere in the club was very weird. It was too bad, i was disapointed, but i hope i can see them in another club as soon as possible.
Then two days later, i went to Lyon to see
Muse again, same as Paris, i went early to be at the barrier. I went with a friend, and like always we met some kind people out there! We wait all day long too, under the rain in the morning and the sun in the afternoon. Then after a tough sprint to go to the barrier, here we were, just in front of Matt ! The first act was
Biffy Clyro again, same set than in Paris, too bad, but it was great nevertheless. Then
Muse went onstage, the same awesome enter ! I love them for this. However it was almost the same set-list than in Paris, a little disappointment.
Cave was replaced by
Feeling Good and no
Guiding Light and nothing instead of. I found this gig was more funny, our three guys was more relax, Matt was often laughing. But I prefer the paris' one because the atmosphere were totally crazy, and definitely better.
Then we win (with a friend) two tickets to see
Indochine (french Band) at home (Chambéry), no road to go there for once! Just few words... The opening act was
This Is Pop, it was rubbish. Then they went onstage, it was great but too wise...Some old songs were good but new ones don't always be.
One month later we go to Grenoble to see
Arctic Monkeys, it was one of the worst gigs i've ever seen, i was too disapointed... The first act was
Mystery Jets, it was cool, i love this band, i didn't know them before. Then
Arctic Monkeys... i thought it'd be great because The Last Shadow Puppets was awesome. But a big disapointement... it was shit. They were bored onstage, so we were too. But it was too bad because they have lots of good songs.
Two (or three ?!) hours later i finished this article !
