São Francisco, Califórnia (1976 – 1986)

Kate Wolf (Kathryn Louise Allen, 27 de janeiro de 1942) foi uma cantora e compositora americana de folk. Embora sua carreira tenha sido relativamente curta, ela teve um impacto significativo no cenário folk e muitos artistas continuam regravando suas canções. Entre as mais famosas composições de Wolf estão “Here in California”, “Love Still Remains”, “Across the Great Divide”, “Unfinished Life” e “Give Yourself to Love”.

Nascida em São Francisco, Califórnia, ela começou sua carreira musical em 1976 na banda Wildwood Flower e depois lançou 10 álbuns como artista solo. Suas canções já foram gravadas por artistas como Nanci Griffith e Emmylou Harris (cuja versão de “Love Still Remains” foi indicada para um Grammy Award em 1999). Utah Phillips foi seu mentor, amigo e companheiro em muitas turnês.

Ela morreu no dia 10 de dezembro de 1986, aos 44 anos, após uma longa batalha contra a leucemia. Está enterrada no cemitério de uma pequena igreja em Goodyears Bar, Califórnia.

    I can't help but say something here. She brings me to tears sometimes. Cornflower Blue. Here in California. I grew up surrounded by the same brown hills and feel every word ever so deeply. I'm madly in love with her if you can't tell.
