Sandra gave much joy to her fans at
"Classic Pop Show". While standing she performed only few songs, because she still have not recovered from leg operation.
Sandra felt very sorry that she didn't have a chance to see famous places of Vilnius, but she promised that she will do it next time.
She is best known because of her massive hits "
Maria Magdalena" and "
In The Heat Of The Night". She gained success not only in her homeland Germany, whole Europe and even in Japan. The land of the rising sun was fascinated by disco band "
Arabesque", where
Sandra was the main singer, cheerful music and brave performances.
While the band was on the rise, artist decided to quit the band and to start singing as a solo artist. You can hear
Sandra's voice in her ex-husband's
Michael Cretu innovative project "
Enigma".
- You started your solo carrier back in 1984. What were the main reasons to start singing alone?
- At first I sang in disco band for seven years. But to tell you the truth, little by little I started to not like the music we were creating and I decided to quit the band. So I wanted some changes and I chose a solo carrier .
- "Enigma" is your ex-husband's, known musician's and composer's, innovative electronic music project. There's a good combination of your and monks voice. What this project meant to you as an artist?
- Firstly it is something special and extraordinary, because "
Enigma" is a huge project. We translate this idea into reality in our house, there we created that music. I believe that I did my work really good, in this project I sang and talked in French. But my ex-husband wanted to change it every time. All others disagreed and said: "Leave it like this, the music and voice sounds perfect".
- This February you released your new album "The Art Of Love". You payed much attention to this work, took part while recording and creating it. What is it's main conception?
- There is no specific idea in my music, music is the feeling. I constantly create lyrics and sing songs, which comes from the inside, from the bottom of my heart. The newest album "
The Art Of Love" came from the afflux of feelings. I've gone through a difficult and sad period the last two years, that's why you can hear a little depressed songs in this album.
- What are the feelings that makes you create music?
- It is the afflux of moods and their changes. The feeling that you are happy or not. That's the main reason to go on.
- And how do you feel now? What period are you going through now: is it successful or more complicated period?
- Right now, at this moment I feel very happy. If I would have to create a song it would be full of joy.
- You sing for more than 30 years now, released 12 albums and your songs became megahits in the whole world. What changed in your art during this colourful carrier?
- You see, I'm not a person who would seek for something, who would have a specific idea. I don't like when someone says you the direction and you follow it. I just live with my feelings and create music. It comes from what I feel. I never worked with specific idea. It is very important to create an album for me and I have to do it with all my heart. I even can't say what my next album will be like, because, for example I don't know how I will feel after six months. Right now I am very happy, so the new songs would have to be cheerful. It is human that all comes from my heart.
Everything that Michael does has its conception, but my art comes from feelings.
- You divorced with your husband, the new chapter of your life has began. What it is like now?
- To tell you the truth I feel very good, I live separately for year and half. No one knew it but I decided that it is time to tell everyone. They ask me every time during the interviews what my husband is doing now, how is he. And I always say: "I don't have a clue, because I haven't seen him." This sounds really stupid.
I am very happy, I have two boys, who are happy to be able to be with their mom and dad.
- How you are able to combine singing, art, and family things, because children constantly needs your attention?
- The family is most important to me. Then comes my job. It is not so easy to combine everything, every mother could confirm it.
- You could barely walk. It seems that you seriously injured your leg. What happened?
- I was skiing in the mountains, i fell down the first of December and I broke my leg. I've gone through serious operation. That's why I walk with splint now, it won't let me move a lot and harm my leg more. I will have to go on stage like this. I was really nervous yesterday while performing in
Šiauliai, cause I didn't know if I will be able to come on stage and to make people move while siting. It worked out fine, I had to sit during the concert, but I have great dancers.
