“Minus the Bear é uma banda rock de Seattle com seis albums/EPS da sua autoria. A banda contém ex-membros das bandas Botch, Kill Sadie, e Sharks Keep Moving. O seu som envolve uma mistura de riffs de guitarra Pele-escos e electrónica, com uma composição sofisticada ao estilo Don Caballero.”

Minus the Bear possui um som algo alternativo, um indie rock alternativo como é classificado e talvez devido a isso seja uma banda pouco divulgada fora dos Estados Unidos.

A característica que salta mais ao olho relativamente a quem não conhece esta banda são o nome desta assim como os nomes das músicas do album e eps mais antigos.

“Hey, Wanna Throw Up?”, “Get Me Naked 2: Electric Boogaloo”, “Monkey!!! Knife!!! Fight!!!,” e “Lemurs, Man, Lemurs” são bons exemplos disto.

“Apesar deste leve humor, o som da banda é bastante técnico. O nome Minus the Bear vem dum show famoso nos Estados Unidos, B.J. and the Bear (B.J e o urso) — minus the bear (menos o urso).”

“A 2 de janeiro de 2006 Matt Bayles, responsável pelo teclado e produtor dos Minus the Bear, anunciou que ia deixar a banda de modo a concentrar-se na gravação e produção de música. A sua última performance foi em 8 de Janeiro, 2006. Matt Bayles escreveu na sua homepage que ia ser substituído por Alex Rose, um dos “engenheiros” do album Menos el Oso.”

“O segundo album completo, Menos el Oso, foi lançado em 23 de Agosto, 2005 com a produtora Suicide Squeeze. Os singles “Hooray” and “Houston We Have Uh-Oh…” estiveram mesmo sites populares de música como o PureVolume. Este lançamento assinalou o fim dos nomes humorísticos, característicos dos albuns anteriores.”

    agreed with reactions. After seeing them live, something just makes you forget all that. I don't like "My Time" that much but still found myself singing along to it. 10 years of music and they give you a bit of everything in their live performances.

    after seeing them live last night I completely understand why they have progressed the way they did... they put on an amazing show and truly enchant the audience. I had the best time of my life and wouldn't change for the world the music they're putting out. Grow with the artist.

    I understand what you guys are saying, but I still love the shit outta OMNI. Animal Backwards and Hold Me Down are just so good. I can lay on my bed and stare at the ceiling listening to it for a whole day. Minus the Bear can't possibly step down. They're just trying something different.
