Moose are an excellent indie rock band with a distinct magic all their own. Often dreamy and twisted chaos within a pretty picture. They really move your soul. There's no one like them but their art is not gotten by some people but that's their loss. imo Best album and song "XYZ". Second EP is great! First one is pretty good too. Second and third ep features guitarist from Stereolab, did you know?

I dearly, deeply loved this band and lament that I never got to see them live in the U.S.

Except for the fact that their early EP's met every description that made up the genre "shoegaze". I'm not a "moron" who wants everything to sound like shoegaze. A quick look at my library confirms that. Don't make fucking stupid comments like that when you don't know what you're talking about.

That said, Untitled Love Song and Speak To Me off the second EP are fantastic. Almost A.R.Kane-like.

Saw them early on when they were doing shoegazing stuff. Didnt think they were much cop and pretty much wrote them off. Then they ditched that sound, lost all their press support but got great. XYZ and Honey Bee are both terrific winsome, slightly countryish very English-sounding pop with top tunes. The sort of thing that a few years later could've been huge. Shame.

See ffg's comment it pretty much covers it all and alleviates any confusion. their early eps: Jack, Sonny & Sam, Cool Breeze, and some parts of XYZ (emphasis on some parts) are shoegazey at times. Quite sonic. Their later material is just another direction they went in. I quit listening to them at that point. Their early eps are still good despite the new direction they took. Listen to the track "Boy". Quite loud.

I love their sound since the moment I heard first tone... Some shoegaze bands tend to be little boring, but music of Moose is very very clever.

got into this band in the early 90's, I still have a 12inch from them that I got as an import at Y&T music years ago!

I'll take tomorrow. Utterly beautiful track. Timeless. I can't believe how overlooked this band is. It's a shame.

That's great news re: new album... if they ever get funding. I've heard rumours of a new release for a long time. Absolutely fantastic band, one of my favourites. Such a shame they were always overlooked.

I thank God I managed to track down their entire discogprahy. Russell and I exchanged emails at one point; trying to get funding for album #5.
