Origem do nome da banda
O vocalista Sahaj Ticotin comentou sobre a origem do nome Ra em várias entrevistas. “…There’s an underlying theme where 80 to 90 percent of the songs have the word sun in it. So I have a little sun fetish and I thought that Ra was appropriate.” Ele também afirmou que gosta da idéia do nome porque é curto - “If your name is Ra you’ve got two giant letters taking up the same amount of space so it looks like your name is bigger”
Primeiros anos: 1996-1998
Marcus Ticotin, irmão mais velho de Sahaj e presidente Abandon Entertainment, financiou a primeira gravação de Sahaj, enquanto Sahaj estava morando em Greenwich, CT com o mentor e amigo Rob Jones. Eles fizeram audições abertas em Nova York para completar a banda com um baterista, guitarrista e baixista. Skoota Warner foi escolhido para ser baterista. Kirk Lyons o baixista e Ben Mauro para guitarrista. A banda gravou “Crazy Little Voices”, que apareceu nos créditos finais do filme A maldição de Carrie.

Clawman everyone, i mean everyone, needs to go here and like this post http://www.facebook.com/sahaj.ticotin/posts/2388837519492, if theres 1000 likes RA will release a new album early 2012 if u cant LIKE it u should add Sahaj as a friend first, if u dont rly a big RA fan go LIKE it and u will def be a big RA fan with this new record, if u dont know who RA is - its a great band that toured with Seether, Ill Nino, Disturbed, Cold and all these bands that u love, their singer is also a producer/writer so some good bands like TRAPT, Downplay, Downstait, Ill Nino and others, if u want a song to check them out try Do You Call My Name, Broken Hearted Soul, Genocide and On My Side (!), GO LIKE THIS POST, WE NEED THAT RECORD
