"Isn't it fun how only like two of the top bands actually fit the "melodic" part of the tag? If even that." - The "melodic" part of the name refers to the melodic death metal influences most of these bands have. Its a bit of a misnomer in that regard.

And im not saying your wrong either that AILD, ATR, ect.... aren't metalcore.. i just know that some of the bands use melodeath as an influence.

Anyway i see more of a profound difference between Metalcore & Melodic Metalcore & Melodeath I find that melodic metalcore still sounds like metalcore just with some melodeath mixed in.

Eh well according to RYM AILD, ATR, KsE, & even Unearth are all Melodic Metalcore. Blood Stain Child to me doesn't sound anything like metalcore to me, but their most recent releases are mostly driven by trance, to me tho they sound like melodeath, I haven't listened much to Dead by April so i can't say for sure but they didn't really sound metalcorish to me and i haven't heard anything by Crossfaith (i will have to listen to them). I think most of the melodic metalcore bands are highly influenced by At The Gates if i remember correctly.

AILD, ATR and KsE are just regular Metalcore. I'd say bands like Dead by April, Crossfaith and the later material by Blood Stain Child fit more as Melodic Metalcore...

People don't know how to tag genres. Most of these bands are not even melodic metalcore. AILD, ATR & KSE should be the top bands in this genre.
