Hello Paul. I just noticed that as of March you tagged a bunch of albums with and now we have a wonderful streaming radio. Thank you so much!

Thanks a lot! Plenty of good stuff in your library as well. Some that I'm not that familiar with. It's always great to get into new music!

Thanks a lot for the reference on Charles Mingus! I'm still not quite sure what to do with the feeling of recognition I experienced on the first times of listening, but I'm fascinated by the melody and the rhythm, and if that brings me to new music, I guess that's what matters. ;)

Man, I'm rockin' Walter Franco, I see why Steven Stapleton is a fan, this is OUT THERE. Which is exactly why I like it. I'm always bad at recommending stuff: I see that you have Can and Hawkwind as a common artist, makes me think, you heard Os Mundi? 43 Minuten is one of my favorite "why the hell doesn't anyone know about this album" albums. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAvI_RE06pM

Thanks man! Yep I'm seeing a lot of stuff I love in your profile - I haven't listened to the Flamin' Groovies in ages! Looking forward to rummaging around in your library - if you have any recommendations please do send them along. Beautiful pic by the way :)

That's perfect, I haven't had over recommendations thrown at me in a while, so that's great. Brazil is definitely a host to some fantastic unknown (to the United States) music. Similar situation, I don't even know who it was but someone else on last.fm with super compatibility, their highest ranked artist was Jorge Ben, checked him out and became an enormous fan. Gal Costa, Gilberto Gil, Os Mutantes all fantastic, I need to spend some more time listening to Brazil. Thanks for the recommendations, great video too, such insane virtuosity.

Thanks! I like looking on charts of someone I have super musical compatibility with and see things I've never heard of in their top 8: I'm listening to Hermeto Pascoal radio now, excellent stuff!

Thank you so much for the compliment on my library! Yours is awesome too! I especially like how The Velvet Underground and Messiaen and next to each other in your charts...nice! The Messiaen class I took was at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas...where I got my undergraduate degree. Yes, I am a full-time musician. I play drums in a Grammy-nominated Cajun band...and I do session work mainly as a pianist/organist. What part of the country are you in? Feel free to message me...I'd love to know about your music studies and/or current musical activities--best, paul

Ah, thank you for pasting your post! I appreciate it! I took a class on Messiaen and am very fond of all of his music. What an amazing composer! And if I haven't before expressed my joy at being friends with you I would like to now: Thank you very much for being my friend!!! and my name is Paul too :) (really!)

lastfm just played me this after a RuthCrawfordSeeger piece I noticed you'd tagged & I thought you might like it(or be interested anyway??). I think it is VERY different from his other tracks though. http://www.last.fm/music/Ceniza+y+la+Banda+Fantasma/_/Magic+Lamp -it plays direct & it is very short.

Hey there, I think you made a really interesting point about John Cale's 'Academy in Peril' (the songs 'all have to do with how a rock artist who came out of the classical milieu can re-imagine it from outside the the academic world of contemporary classical music'). Really nice take on kind of a difficult album. Thanks for that.
