People at a Starsailor Gig

A curious collection of people made their way out to see Starsailor at The Queen's Hall last night, October 1st.

The average audience member must have been into their thirties, I decided because the Queen's Hall generally attracts older audiences, though you could spin it into some slur of Starsailor. Lots of people looked like this, or some female similarity. I hadn't expected to seem 'young' in comparison to everybody but then I didn't expect cardigans either.

Immediately in front of us (me+kibbls) was a man, broad, bellied, sweaty and with a number three (maybe something of these proportions), who was singing along to every word, clapping amazingly out of time - I tried and couldn't nearly match him -, and jumping like Starsailor were the meaning of his life. He had a friendwifegirlfriendmistressloveretc half his height who was rather more staid.

Upstairs a man sat with either his head slumped in his hands looking as glum as glum can be or upright, arms folded in some defence against the Dark Arts noise.

A guy around the arc of the balcony spent Alcoholic leaning over, waving his arms and shouting along, again with a superenthusiasm I wouldn't associate with Starsailor.

During Silence Is Easy one man with no hair at the front jumped and swung his arms around like he was being confronted with Machine Head and he bared his teeth and he spotted another man moving with a similarly crazy smile and they attempted to dance together for a while but there was somebody in the way. Also during Silence Is Easy was an early twenties man upstairs with some wonderfully contorting facial expressions as he sang along.

And then there was me, watching everybody else. Starsailor were fun, they're a good band if you don't expect the radical of them. fidelity isn't as good without the harmonised chorus.
