Sigur Ros is streaming their upcoming album, Valtari, at 7pm at every time zone. So it just ended it for the Pacific Time Zone. Let it be known that I am sitting at the library staff lounge and have been for the past three hours, finishing up my research report this semester.
This means transcribing a freaking five hours of interviews that I have conducted this semester, which amounted to 72 pages of transcripts. I should've transcribed four, but YESS maybe it was a mixed blessing that my Prof and the grad student assistant thought this homeland security dude was actually a homeless man in disguise. That was a little disappointing to mull over. But whatever, at least I didn't have to transcribe those extra two hours, which would've mean 100 pages of transcripts. I guess people do indeed find me an easy person to talk to, a good listener, apparently, as I've been told. Anyway: I transcribed about 40 pages today. On four hours of sleep.
Also wrote an eleven page report outlining observations of race and gender and class. But at least it was mostly quotations, long ones at that.
Also converted my huge .WMAs to huge .mp3s to low quality .mp3s so I could upload onto the research project site. Sigh. Takes so long.
And submitting my debriefs, don't forget that. Granted, I wrote each of these immediately following the respective interviews but still, had to change all the names with pseudonyms. Very hard to remember who was who.
But Sigur Ros, I wish I could've enjoyed you more. I'm not even watching the sunset over the Bay that this fourth floor room enjoys. Eh, eh. Okay, now I'm hungry.
And I'm done with my junior year of college!
Maybe I'll see Valtari live next semester….when I travel abroad to Sweden for a semester. Visiting Iceland is definitely up there on my to-do list…
