Sleep Like A Baby Tonight

Hi,
so after a very hectic last week, I’m trying to slow down a bit. And I’m doing this with ma first real vacation for months. I might no go to places far away, but a few quiet days should be enough. :)

Last week in covers:

Noteworthy:
> Interpol (for me) new artist alert. I’ve never heard much from Interpol. Now with a new album release that condition was about to change. And I’m surprised that I quite enjoyed their new stuff.
> Tegan and Sara : flashback times. I still haven’t managed to figure out how they sounded before “Heartthrob”. Anyway… I’m still in fond of that latest album.
> Tina Turner : flashback times. Oh, I
> Fences : new artist alert. Tbh I did not really listen to much. But I’m sure to check out the new album “Lesser Oceans” when it comes out.
> Udo Jürgens : This was part of a research for modern German songs with a little social criticism. And yes, he still can deliver. :P

Stats!

Most played artists:
> U2 : new album alert. And boy, what a way to promote new music. Just give it to millions of people at the same time - as a total surprise. Of course, as a fan I was happy. And I can’t believe it’s been 5 years since “No Line On The Horizon”. So as you can see, I took some time to get to know the new tracks. And I can say, that I’m quite satisfied. :)
> The Pierces : new album alert. “Creation” is a very good pop album. Nice easy listening. I recommend “Come Alive”.
> The Script : new album alert. “No Sound Without Silence” should please fans, but I’m afraid it’s not their strongest record. At least that is what I’m thinking after my first listening sessions.

Most played tracks:
> Chandelier : this is one of those cases, when a song slowly kept growing on me. I wasn’t really a fan of it when I first heard it. But now I really like it.
> Sleep Like A Baby Tonight : this is clearly one of my favorite songs from the new album “Songs Of Innocence”. It’s dark and mellow - featuring a catchy chorus.

News?
> Tokyo Hotel are slowly getting ready for promotion. The upcoming album has now a name, the track listing and a cover artwork. “Kings Of Surbubia” sounds a bit underwhelming.
And speaking of underwhelming. Their first video release in years is an acoustic ballad. “Run, Run, Run” itself is okay, but regarding a comeback I think it’s not the best surprise to come up with.
> “Don’t Be Gone Too Long” teams up Chris Brown with Ariana Grande. The result is a quite nice midtempo song and a video with a fairytale look and feel.
> Stevie Nicks released a pretty basic music video for “Lady” - from the upcoming 8th studio album “24 Karat Gold: Songs from the Vault”. This marks the another pretty simply arranged new song - just a voice and a piano.
> La Roux did a good choice with “Kiss And Not Tell”, because I think it’s one of the strongest track from her current album. The video is colorful and retro - so it fits the theme. Nice.
> “Give Me A Reason” it the title of the new video by The Common Linnets, which comes off quite powerful (and a bit generic). It doesn’t need the silly costumes, actually.
> Lenny Kravitz’s new video for “The Chamber” couldn’t possibly be more explicit. Idk if he really had to go this far. It almost looks like he wants to take focus away from the quality of the song itself.
> Jessie Ware also made a new video - “Say You Love Me”. It’s simple and effective - just like the song (at least, until the choir sets in).
> “Heart Out” - the newest video by The 1975 - is a bit similar to “Shady Love” by the Scissor Sisters - but it’s fun to watch, and the song is good, too.
> Calvin Harris (one of the most successful DJs these days) collaborated with John Newman for a song called “Blame”, which now has video. The video features nothing new, but the mix of electronic sounds and Newman’s vocals is nice.

New in the German charts:
Maps : look who’s back among the top ten - almost exactly one month later. I guess it has something to do with Maroon 5’s promotion of the new album “V”.
Superheroes : wow, that’s great. I didn’t expect this song to be so well received.
