Best albums of the decade

I am loathe to consider the decade closed a year ahead of time (because the first decade ended with the year 10, fyi), but everyone does it anyhow, so perhaps it's time for me to relent.

And since Rolling Stone magazine has done such a crappy list, well… here's mine.

10. Stankonia. Tough choice for their best album, but I'll stick with my fave, which includes the insane B.O.B. which has one of the great raps ever.

9. Stadium Arcadium I can't believe I'm still racking up scrobbles on this album. How is it so effortlessly catchy and good? And I actually think it's their best album, despite it being so commercial… sorry Mother's Milk!

8. Kid A I have a hard time separating this from Amnesiac, so I'll include them both. I don't think I need to drone on about why they're good (or apologize for not putting them #1).

7. Sweet Warrior So varied and so consistent, it also features the best IRA song ever. Also ridiculous trying to pick a best from the decade - narrowly beats out The Old Kit Bag.

6. Hail To The Thief Yes, I'm the only one who would dare call this their best of the decade. It's more straight-rock than anything since and therefore less trailblazing, but I just think it's perfect. So many great melodies, so much emotion and power…

5. Separate Ways A giant leap forward from his first album, and it paved the way for him to put together a commercial album for his third. It also broke him away from the mold of RT and Rufus W.

4. Long Gone Before Daylight I seem to be the only one that thinks this is their best, but I do. It shows an amazing maturity in their style and in Nina's talent. It also feels like their only personal album.

3. Black Holes & Revelations I liked Muse before this album, but afterwards? Now I'm a fan. I can still listen to it like it's new, and that's rare.

2. Lost In Space Am I the only one that thinks this is a masterpiece? By far her best, I think… just unparalleled in terms of simple songwriting.

1. Funeral I had to pick something, although it feels like a 6-way tie for #1. Funeral is just so visionary and one of those perfect moments in time.

Honorable Mentions to Phrenology, Game Theory, Bachelor No. 2, THE WINTER ALBUM, Rockin' The Suburbs, Parachutes, Seventh Tree, Good Morning Aztlan, Paradisiaque, Poses, Love Is Here, (Green) and Simple Things
