Really likeing the Decemberists. Crane Wife is a quality album and they have a solid debut too. Favourite song so far is Shiny on the 5 songs EP :)

Yeh it was good, definitely a good experience especially if you live out and get used to doing your own stuff. I study in Brighton which is a pretty good place with much to do which is always a plus. Good luck with that :) I am gonna listen to the decembrists. Best place to start?

You are Invited is one of my favorite songs by them. Travis Morrison is such a great story-teller. Ellen and Ben and The Ice of Boston are my other favorite songs that have stories to them.

Ah, definitely one of my all-time favorite 90's bands. Emergency & I is my favorite, but Change and Is Terrified are also amazing. You should listen to them more and let me know what ya think. :)

Ya know, even though I have listened to Building Nothing (I just realized that my previous shout said "Building Something" -- my bad) a bunch of times, I have never given Grey Ice Water the attention I'm sure it deserves. I'll have to listen to that song closely next time.

Yeah, The Moon & Antarctica is also phenomenal. Long Drive, Building Something Out of Nothing (although that is a compilation), and Interstate 8 are all masterpieces as well.

Hell yeah! And Tundra/Desert is so cool because it starts off slow and then gradually gets crazier, which I love. Issac's lyrics are always spectacular! <3

Wowee Zowee is a great album! I fell in love with it for the first time a few months ago because it was one of the last Pavement albums I got into. Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain was the first Pavement album I truly loved and Slanted is always awesome. You can't really go wrong with any Pavement albums though! I love them all. And thank you, he is such a sweetheart. :)

Hooray for Built to Spill. Been getting into them recently. Absolutely love Keep It Like a Secret and Perfect From Now On. Modest Mouse too.

I heard that! By the way, I've never listened to a Sufjan album before and the only song I've heard is Chicago, what album do you recommend listening to first>

Glad to hear you're enjoying it so far! Impossible Soul is indeed a masterpiece. One of my all-time favorite Sufjan songs. All Delighted People was released the same year and is phenomenal as well.

You really should check out The Age of Adz -- it's brilliant! If you don't enjoy it at first, don't give up though! It's different for Sufjan because it combines crazy electronic music with orchestral arrangements and he even uses auto-tune in some of the songs. I think it's a masterpiece. If you like that album, also check out his All Delighted People EP which is similar in some aspects, but has more of a folk vibe on some tracks. The Decemberists did perform quite a few songs from The Crane Wife and I was happy about that, but the majority of the songs they played were from The King is Dead and though I enjoy that album, it doesn't hit me as hard as their previous releases. Hopefully you'll get a chance to see them live one day!

Thank you! Illinois is a beautiful album. Have you heard his more recent release, The Age of Adz? And I concur, Colin Meloy should be a playwright. My friend saw The Decemberists live on their Hazards of Love tour and they dressed up like the characters and kind of acted out the story while performing. I saw them live last year on their King is Dead tour and they performed about 3 songs from the Hazards of Love and they were awesome. Wish I could have seen them on that tour though.

Agreed. I always feel like I'm going to tear up when I hear the last song on Hazards of Love. You have the most amazing taste, by the way! Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, Yo La Tengo, Sufjan Stevens, Pavement, The Antlers, The National, etc. <3

That's awesome! The Hazards of Love is probably my favorite because I love the story of it all and the guest vocalists (especially the Queen) are amazing. Picaresque and The Crane Wife are tied as my second favorite though.

Also, I like that Twin Falls is your highest BTS track, after Car. Very underrated song.

Modest Mouse's entire canon is on my radar for listening, though maybe not for a few more weeks since I've been listening to them a lot recently. Built to Spill's "There's Nothing Wrong with Love" is on my list for tomorrow too, and I've heard some good things about 'Bee Thousand', so I'll probably give that a go sometime. Thanks!
