Will do! Sounds like you had a great time on NYE, what's the reason you moved to Scotland?

I had a great new years eve, I basically just spent the night here and there with a lot of great people :) What about you? I'm still checking the bands you recommended out, but so far I've listened a lot to one of Arab Straps' albums (Monday at the Hug & Pint) and I reeeally liked it, so thanks(!), haha

Ugh, so I have tons of music yet nothing I really want to listen to. Do you have any music recommendations? Happy new year btw!

Hm, it's a tough question, cause I really haven't listened to it that much. I feel like no matter how much I enjoy the new music they make, it's not really the same to me as a lot of the previous albums. It's still wu, but idk.. Haven't listened to it a lot, so I can't really say much about what I think of it, but yeah, I totally agree, preferred the new Ghostface over it

Right now I believe that my fav flylo album is "you're dead" but oh well, haven't really heard it through so many times yet, so it's difficult to say lol. I would love to at least TRY to make some stuff but I really don't have a clue on where to begin and how

I'm pretty sure that Leadley is my favourite out of all the people you recommended. I agree with the "Aphex Twin meets Flying Lotus meets Thom Yorke" comparison! At least out of what I've heard so far. And yeah, you should definitely send his (and your) music to a record label or something, haha. How did you learn all the music-making stuff (stupid question, I'm aware)? Btw - What are your opinions on "You're Dead!"?

really liked the wu-tang remix! made a soundcloud account, but to be honest i'm not quite sure how the site works yet..(??) trying to figure it out, lol. are there any people you think I should follow?

All good ones - I think that last one was one of her final recordings, too. If you can, certainly get a hold of Journey in Satchidananda. That one has an amazing mixture of more groovy jazz sounds and her far out harp playing, plus Pharoah Sanders is a monster on sax. Transcendence is so cool to me because the first half is all slow, formless harp songs, and the second is all organ jams.

btw if you're having a hard time finding Divine Songs, let me know. There's a stream on youtube but it's not the most popular or easy to obtain album.

He definitely has access - if you listen closely, you can hear samples from Alice's work on a couple Cosmogramma tracks. Listen to Alice's Divine Songs album, specifically the song "Er Ra" and you'll be blown away. He mixes her harp playing and singing right in there :) Definitely check out Pharoah Sanders work too - he plays sax and has near equal input on Alice's Satchidananda anyway - since he approaches the sort of manic, psychedelic feel that Flylo hits even moreso than Coltrane.

Nice Tardis pic! I'm copying this here in case you don't catch it on the flylo page: @jack_rae: listen to Miles Davis' Big Fun, Alice Coltrane's Journey To Satchidananda, and Pharoah Sanders' Karma (or Black Unity, though it's more groove centric). Also check out: Don Cherry's Brown Rice. Marion Brown's Sweet Earth Flying.. and if you haven't heard it, John Coltrane's A Love Supreme, because that's just one of the best albums ever.
