Nice new picture. ;) Have you listened to Gregor Samsa? I don't remember if I already recommended them to you. My favorite tracks are Ain Leuh, Abutting/Dismantling, Jeroen Van Aken, and Pseudonyms. All of their tracks are available for full play. If you were here, I'd make you listen to all of those mentioned above, so I suggest that you still do. =] Hehe. Hope you like them.

Yeah, I was on a post-punk/alternative rock binge last night. I've missed that stuff in listening to so much from the 00s lately. I see the post-rock and shoegaze are dominating your library as usual too. =] Check out Kyte if you haven't; I just started listening and it's pretty good stuff. You might have to check other sites though. =/

Oh my gosh, I just downloaded Pygmalion (can't believe I didn't do it sooner!), and it's just wonderful! Wow. Haha thanks for telling me about Miranda; I was well overdue for getting the rest of Slowdive! This album is different, a little more... layered, with more foreground instruments not so washed out by feedback. So melodic and peaceful. Miranda is excellent too. =]

I haven't seen that movie, but I have a really cool electronic cover of the theme song. =] It's by Matrix & Futurebound, and you can find the full length track on this site. You should check out Arms and Sleepers too, especially the songs Butterflycatcher, A Mission to Prague, and Greetings from Tokyo. Warm and Lausanne are good too, except for the first few words in Warm. >_< The voice just sounds weird. I love when they sing in a few of their songs though, especially in 71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance (also an excellent song, quite unlike the film). Ahhh... =] Please tell me what you think!

By the way, Fok means "snowdrift"... interesting to know when listening. =] I love how it, like the rest of his music, sounds so cool, delicate, and beautiful like the snow. Mysterious and awe-inspiring. Relatively simple on the surface, but full of complex underlying emotions, wisdom, and balance of harmony. I imagine the most magnificent arctic scenery when I listen to it. Now, I'm not a big fan of the cold, but those images and the chills the music gives me are wonderful. =] It's accompanied by a warmth of adoration, though, of understanding...

You, my friend, are phenomenal. =] The first song by Olafur Arnalds I heard was Fok, on one of The Silent Ballet volumes, and it just blew me away. 3055 and 0952 are my next favorites. Fok reminded me a bit of The Fountain OST, which is absolutely GORGEOUS. Especially after seeing the movie. My favorite movie ever, and the best OST ever. <3 I can't even begin to explain it to you, but I really think you should see it. If you like it, well, then I'm just done for, because you're too awesome to deal with. :P Ugh, I wish I could go back to sleep, but the world is calling me... usually I don't suffer so badly when I haven't slept much, but maybe it was because I went to bed so late to... I feel like I'm hungover. :P Good luck with your work!

Ah yeah, I definitely know Royksopp. I have Melody AM; it's ok. Groovy, in a silly way. :P I have playlists of tons of loose edm tracks, but not really many good albums. Trentemoller is really good (love the album The Last Resort), though several songs are rather cold or distant, better for settling you down than picking you up. =] When I need energy I often listen to Shiny Toy Guns (album We Are Pilots), a very fun mix of electronica and dance rock. Also, when you have a minute to really listen, put on Pantha du Prince - Saturn Strobe. Love love love that song. Just sweeps me off my feet. =] I hope Olafur Arnalds isn't putting you to sleep. You might want to listen to him later tonight. It's best to meditate to. =] I just woke about 20 minutes ago (text messages and alarms going off left and right), but I'm so tired still. I definitely need more than 6 hours of sleep! How's your work coming? "A bientot" is free for "see/talk to you soon."

Haha. Not very easy, is it? :P Thank you as well; you're a godsend for music! It was great talking and sharing all this music with you. Lovely indeed. =] I really appreciate your artistic, informed outlook, and your passion... it's very refreshing. =] I'm glad you've chosen to share them with me. I look forward to continuing our discussion later. Also, nice job using emotive and splendor in that last shout. ;) A bientot!

Yes, I did. I'm quite academic. :P As much as I am intuitive/creative. I'll let you get on to your art... I wish you the best of luck with that. ;) I'm sure those 3 paintings will turn out wonderfully. Work hard and have lots of fun too. :D Everything turns out better when you really put your heart into it. Emotion and passion have their own way of creating beauty in things. I think I'll get some sleep now, as I hear morning birds and am starting to see the darkness turn a shade of blue in my window. And yes, splendor and emotive are two of my favorite words. There's a song by The Stone Roses in which he sings, "immerse me in your splendor," and I just love it. =]

GY!BE is pretty good, though I've found them more difficult to get into... they don't grab me as emotionally as some other artists. Maybe I need to give them some more time. Your attention really influences how you feel about a certain piece at that time. Have you listened to Olafur Arnalds? The splendor and enchantment of his music just slays me... it's relatively simple, but so emotive, so encompassing...

Hmm... I can definitely see how the music fits the title. I feel like it's searching for something, an answer to a lingering question, while recalling the past... and as it gets deeper into the history, it ponders it for a minute before shifting its gaze over to the future, where the beat picks up and the guitar brings on a sharper, brighter melody. But then it regresses into the melancholy of regret, the pang of mystery that still calls to be sought and resolved... later is the surge of all the questions and recollections of things past combined with ideas of the future... the clash of what has been and what will be and what has to happen in the middle... which happens to be this very expressive music. =]

Awww you're the best. =] Haha. And also my new favorite music buddy. =] And you don't have to call them 45 cause they DESERVE the "epic" in front of their name! I just listened to a track by lights out asia, and I very much adored it. I totally know what you mean about the guitar in history vs future too, though when I said strings I literally meant violins and cellos and stuff. =] For you: http://hypem.com/search/your%20hand%20in%20mine/1/ >>>if you scroll down, there's the version with strings too. =]

keep amber.. keep up. n i'll slow down. actually, in a few i oughtuh resume the painting. i still have 3 pieces summoning me. ;)) i had a sense you're a peep who finds sanctuary in many things you do and where you be. the room is the obvious. nature is a fantastic one too. i luv the summer beach and winter mountains. sun n snow! i share the sun's vibrant warmth and 'rest in the blanket snow'. luhv! true anything by these bands is tops! i'm looking forward to your remarks on history vs future :()

Gosh, that sounds absolutely divine... I have to say, I envy you for it. ;) I wish I had such a place. At the present it's my own mind; I escape into dreams and personal inner-space. I just have to hope that no one comes along to interrupt me. :P I love the summer because I can go find a secluded spot outside somewhere to get away from society and just be free to let me be me. I haven't listened to either band long enough to be able to give you favorites yet, but I LOVE august country fires, and every song I've heard so far by the very epic epic45. ;) I'll listen to history vs. future with you. :D

Wellll, I suppose you can use it followed by 45... but that's it. :P I imagine I feel pretty closely to the way you do. Also silly from lack of sleep and everything, but dazed and far-sighted... you're working very hard on your painting, and I know what that feels like... also, listening to the same music certainly adds to it all. =] My favorite song by Explosions is Your Hand In Mine. I never get over it. The version with strings is really nice too, but doesn't have quite the same building effect... More ambient music definitely captivates me in a different way though. Wow, it's been another hour! :P I'm pro at all-nighters though, ha.

Hah, well, I just might be falling in love with your incredible taste! And so it is, Epic45+July Skies! I think what's really happening is that Epic45 is wonderful on its own, but the daze of sleeplessness, ambition, and (in your case) paint thinner fumes just adds to the effects. Hmm, what could be much better than having your heart fully into both art and music at the same time?

Hahaha you did not just say "epics." :P How much is that word supposed to mean if it's used so frequently? I always laugh when people say that. Not that I'm laughing at you. :P Ahh, yes, I've heard this song by Tunturia before... it's decent. =] I assume you've heard Explosions In the Sky?

Maybe it has something to do with it being 4am and me having a bit of a dizzy headache, but Epic45 is strangely, almost mysteriously, enrapturing. Like it kind of just sneaks it and steals you away. I like it. :D Ambient music is always better late at night when you're sleepy. Feels like a conscious (lets not forget beautiful) dream. Thank you, as always. =]

Actually I haven't listened to your radio yet; I'm still working on all the recommendations you gave me. :P I'm listening to some chillout right now. I feel like I'm on a tropical island. =] Samuel - Oceania. Your art is wonderful. Definitely unique! You've got some talent. ;) I've always loved art, but never put much effort into developing a style. Kind of a shame, since I'm sure I'd be really good at it.

Yeah, I really like that stuff. =] Travis is good; I agree with you about those being 3 of his best. The first one I heard by him was Why Does It Always Rain On Me, and I just thought it was so easy to get into. You might like Bon Iver too. Try the songs Flume and Skinny Love.

Have you heard Neverending White Lights - The Grace? You should check out their songs Dove Colored Sky and Bleeds to an End as well. They're my favorite by them. =] The lead singer Dallas Green is the guy in City and Colour, which I like better in the sense that there are a lot more good songs. Different style though, more acoustic/singer-songwriter stuff. The songs Comin' Home and The Girl are two of my favorites by City and Colour.

Oh my gosh, Bless is BEAUTIFUL! His voice... it just flows... and the guitar in the background, and the buzz of the percussion, it's all so wonderful together. This... this is what blessed feels like. :D Thank God for such good music and ears to hear it! I now have very high expectations for the rest of your recommendations. :P

I LOVE My Bloody Valentine and Pale Saints, Chapterhouse and Ride are pretty good, I don't like Kitchens of Distinction, and the rest I haven't even heard of. :P And yeah, July Skies is wonderful. =] Holy cow I have a lot of recommendations to look up now, lol! Some Velvet Morning I like quite a bit too, but it certainly has a different sound for them. Wasn't in some vampire movie? Maybe that's just what it reminds me of haha. My favorite by them is probably When the Sun Hits. I really like the first few tracks on Just for a Day too, so summery-warm and dreamy. I imagine you like classical music too--have you heard anything by Ludovico Einaudi, Roberto Cacciapaglia, or Eric Whitacre? They're all modern composers, the latter whose choral pieces I primarily listen to (they're absolutely phenomenal, so breathtaking...). I think the human voice (especially in song) is the most beautiful sound in the world. =]

Haha. :P One reason I love this site is because I find people who appreciate the same originality, talent, decency, and sophistication in music as I do. Generally, out in the world, you're just inundated by the media's garbage that most people somehow allow themselves to believe is new and valuable. Great things, like musical taste and libraries, need to be shared. :P I'm happy that I can do that here. I'm happy there are more people out there who understand quality music.
