Kinda became a DJ by default, like you mention about yourself. I am a record collector who mixed records at home as a hobby. I had a friend who turned down a big DJ gig and told the promoter I could do it while I was standing there so I just stumbled into it. But have been doing it for 17+ years. I have taken time off recently since I went back to school to get my BFA in painting. Making art is pretty fun but being a drummer is pretty AWESOME. I love bohnam and copeland, you have a good list of influences. Don't let my electronic heavy library fool you, I was raised on a steady diet of the stooges, bowie, and the like since I was little thanks to a very cool aunt. But I'm basically a beat junky I love drum beats my vinyl collection is big on 60's-70's funk and soul and a lot of jazz. I have a little bit of everything. I just love music.

'Tis definitely worth getting, but don't expect more than a few paragraphs on about 70% of the albums. You will learn a lot of useless trivia to bore people with though. For example, did you know that three tracks on Miles Davis "Kind of Blue" were recorded in the wrong key? Well, ya do now.

Nope, I think that review is incredibly stupid and narrowminded. To dismiss DJ Shadow, Fatboy Slim and Roni Size as "non-music" has to be one of the dumbest things I've read. Even Limp Bizkit deserves its place IMO - the inclusion of that album represents the nu-metal genre, which (like it or not) was one of the biggest musical trends of the early 2000s. The guy is just a music snob and not in a good way either.

You are doing it in a more sensible fashion than me then! I still haven't finished the 50s yet and it has been over six months since I started. Keep getting distracted. If I find an artist that I love then I have this weird compulsion to check out their entire discography.

Super compatibility!!! Great musical taste! Check out Glasvegas, "Geraldine". I love them. They have a female drummer who stands the entire time in concert. I saw them recently and they were awesome.

I try to do everything but traditional oils and acrylics on canvas. Not that I don't want to, but because its an expensive hobby. It's hard to make a living as a painter. It's not as hard or expensive to use just about any other medium, which is what I do. Street art is my passion. I don't mind at all not getting paid for that. Comments people make on it is payment enough. - Thats awesome that you like to write. I love writing as well.

You're a drummer!? Nice! I used to be a drummer in high school. I kinda fell out of it though. I really miss it. -greetings back from Colorado!

The Furs are coming back up the charts...they'll be in Myrtle Beach by July 11, I hear. Still not sure if I could swing that, but if only I could...!

Suggest starting with 'The Sunset Tree' first if you want to get into the Goats, probably one of the best albums of the last decade. Arcade Fire are amazing too, I'm glad they are finally getting the success they deserve.

OK, you win. I forgot about The Mountain Goats track and that is shameful considering they are so high in my charts.

I must admit that I couldn't tell you where it is either. At least there are some good songs about Georgia. I can think of at least two "Rainy Night in Georgia" by Brook Benton and "Georgia on My Mind" by Ray Charles. That's probably two more than Wales has.

Thanks, your charts are excellent too. Love the comment about Wales in your bio, made me smile!

Yeah, cool that you like it. It's a song without a chorus, but due to the great guitar parts I'm not missing a thing!

I heard clarinet is difficult to learn. I'm learning bass guitar right now, but idk. I guess I'm more of a percussionist. The calluses on my fingers are bleeding terribly. :(

How much was the kit? My friend gave me his Tama because I told him Copeland plays a Tama. lol he said he didn't like it so he gave it to me. It's pretty nice, I've been playing for three years. Still have a lot to learn obviously. Have you seen Neil Peart's kit? Now THAT is insane.

Nice! What kind of drums do you have? Stewart Copeland is amazing, he's my second favorite drummer next to Buddy Rich. I love Scyther! I saw your post on Synchronicity II's track page, I totally agree with what you said. I love that song.

I've never heard of Teddiursa. Yeah, try it a few more times, just in case. :P I heard there's a new Wii coming out incorporating 3-D, I think. I'm not sure. P.S. Robert Smith is pure win. lol

"they don't make game systems like they used to" - you're so very correct. Not very many good games out right now, unfortunately. Plus, every next-gen system is going 3-D so it's hard to find a middle-ground. You like Pokemon? Awesome! Take the test and tell me what you get. The first time I took it I got Togetic and then took it about five more times afterwards and got Mew. Haha.

Wow, that was awesome! The choreography was amazing, haha. There's a lot of smoke in that video. I thought he was having a seizure! I almost had one myself haha. The drums sound really good, I'll have to check that album out soon.

It's amazing! I heard 'Third Uncle' on last.fm radio so I went looking for one of their albums. I found it at the library and rented it for 50 cents. I honestly wish I could keep it and I don't feel that way about a lot of albums.

Most of my music life has been in 60s-80s R&R. Trying to expand my horizons with the groups you probably saw. I try to listen to calmer stuff at work but I broke tradition today. It's Friday and I needed to rock! Enjoy the weekend.
