Hey you might find this thread over on Metafilter pretty interesting. (It's in response to a another thread on the same site used to announce Thatcher's death.) You probably have plenty to look at, but anyway it's a pretty awesome community: http://metatalk.metafilter.com/22560/Tramp-the-Dirt-Down

I hear u mama and I respect your views as well. you're not wrong for feeling the way you do. in any case it all makes total sense if u think about it that now is the time for this old antiquated belief system they created in the late 70's into the '80's to really start disintegrating now. All that shit they tried to do might have worked for a little while but in the long run the more important issues are coming up to the top now, things that cannot be ignored, such as the state of our planet. And bringing music back into our schools! Anyway.....music makes the universe go 'round for sure...thanks for being awesome babycakes! xoxoxo

Thanks for the comment. It's pretty fascinating to see how this event has released so much emotion that's been siting there for two or three decades. I understand entirely the relief and closure this even has, and say go forth and celebrate. Because she was much much more than a simple person, she was a whole way of looking at the world that hurt many people and treated them very disrespectfully. To say the least. I'm going to play lots of Gang of Four today, I think ;-)

Read what you wrote on another user page (actually the person below now that I look more closely) regarding Thatcher. Thanks for that view into the sentiment in the UK. I totally concur whole-heartedly. It was she and Reagan that laid down the foundations for the implosion the world economy underwent in 2006 and the ridiculous inequality in wealth that now exists in both nations. They went too far, and the conservatives in this country now are an insane cult that believes in fantasies and myths and is bent on turning the middle and working class in the U.S. into a huge pool of cheap labor for the ultra-wealthy to exploit in what strikes me as a return to feudalism of sorts, and it needs to be turned around, the funny thing they do not understand is that Capitalism itself is a system that requires control or it quickly turns into something deeply ugly that requires nothing of human rights and real human freedom. In fact it functions all too well without those things.

I hear u my dear re auld lady Thatcher. Not a big fan of hers myself; I was a teenager in the 80's so recall all too well the state of politics and social issues of the day when she and Reagan and Gorbachev were all playing games with the world's future. Still, we can't hate her too much, she's got a lot to answer for now with U-Know-Who and a candidate for redemption. Good for her! I hope she finally understands in "death" what she could not grasp in "life". Beautiful day here, a little cloudy but no matter, grey skies are gonna clear up :p xoxoxo

Tread gently on anyone who looks at you sideways. Have lots of long lie-ins. Wear sturdy socks, learn to grow out of medium underwear and if you must lie about your age, do it in the other direction - tell people you're 97 and they'll think you look fucking great. Try to catch a trout and experience the glorious feeling of letting it go and seeing it swimming away. Never eat food that comes in a bucket. If you don't know how to meditate, at least try to spend some time every day just sitting.

Boo joggers. Don't work out, work in. Play the banjo. Sleep with somebody you like. Eat plenty of liquorice allsorts. Try to live in a place you like. Marry somebody you like. Try to do a job you like. Never turn down an opportunity to shout 'fuck them all!' at the top of your voice. Avoid bigots of all descriptions.Let your bed become to you what the Pole Star was to sailors of old... look forward to it. Don't wear tight underwear on aeroplanes. Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that, who cares? He's a mile away and you've got his shoes.

Clean your teeth and keep the company of people who will tell you when there's spinach on them. Avoid people who know the answer. Keep the company of people who are trying to understand the question. Don't pat animals with sneaky eyes. If you haven't heard a good rumour by 11am, start one. Learn to feel sorry for music because, although it is the international language, it has no swearwords - if you don't count Wagner, which in my opinion is one long one and should be avoided at all cost.

If you write a book, be sure it has exactly 74 'fucks' in it. Send Hieronymous Bosch prints to elderly relatives for Christmas. Avoid giving LSD to guide dogs. Don't be talked into wearing a uniform.Salute nobody.Campaign against blue smarties. Above all, go to Glasgow at least once in your life and have a roll and square sliced sausage and a cup of tea. When you feel the tea coursing over your spice- singed tongue, you'll know what I mean when I say 'It's good to be alive!'

'The Desiderata' as revised by Billy Connolly.

just love my music : )
and philosophy, sloth & general flim flam. but mostly music. check out my playlists - a bit less eclectic than my full library!

btw would love to reminisce with anyone who was clubbing 1988-1990 at the Hacienda (Nude or Hot) or Slam, at the Sub Club if you're out there. or Spiders in Hull 1985-88!
