Hello again! Sorry for the late reply. Anyway, things have been busy around here. I'm going to able to return to school in January, so that has put me in a good mood! How has your effort been, my friend? Have you made enough for school? :)

Haha no, although it should be out in early 2015, hopefully. I just sent Katie the full album in wav files because she wanted to check it out after listening to the bandcamp songs... I'll send you the DL link in a pm.

Do you like/ have heard of Gridlink? If you haven't then I'd highly recommend them, if you have, whats your favourite song/album by them?

supposedly they are going down to 11 value meal items, they keep changing things around in hopes of winning over more customers, as if they don't have enough already, McRibs come around about twice a year, at least in NM we still have green chile double-cheeseburgers

I mostly know their singer who actually has a pretty similar taste to you, maybe with a slightly gay twist though :D

Yep I know some of them, we've had a gig with them here in Bratislava back in... ugh, 2010 I think.

Haha, I like this particular song a lot so I sent it also to my friend who is more or less a fan of the band and he said he is "not in the mood for gayness right now" :D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dx5vyx0Bl5w You might possibly like this new Manes album. I see you have no scrobbles of them, they started up as a pretty dark 2nd wave BM band and then shifted towards kind of a melancholic electronic/rock during the 2000s, sometimes even incorporating hip hop, etc. This new one is not very conciously experimental, but it's good depressive music with that urban isolation kind of feeling.

Only a couple of pure "extreme" songs by them caught on for me, like the Destroying Angel or I am the Wrath of Gods and the Desolation of the Earth

I like the songs with clean vocals the best, like Between Shit and Piss We Are Born, When the Lions Devours for Dragon and Child, More of Fire Than Blood, Forging Towards the Sunset etc

Hi dude! How's it going, my friend? It's been awhile since we've last talked. How's life been treating you? ^_^

...forgot to say, the 90s BM guys usually already played death metal or other genres before they jumped on the BM trend, so they were already somehow experienced, which made their debut albums more intricate, with a few exceptions.

I tend to like the newer releases from these post-2000 BM bands as opposed to the classic acts from whom I usually prefer the early works... I used to think Satanic Warmaster pretty much sucks before the Nachzehrer album which was the 1st one that caught my attention. It's probably because a lot of BM bands today start without having much talent or skills (since it's a lot easier to record/distribute music than it used to be) and only when they mature a bit, they tend to get more interesting.

It's a total homage to 90s black metal from Scandinavia - basically there are mini-tributes to various bands in all songs (an acoustic break in the vein of 1st Satyricon album, a riff almost directly lifted from the 1st Dark Funeral album, one song is a Vornat cover, etc) - so, as someone who grew up with this music I like it. Feels like playing a mixtape of my favourite 90s albums. The production is a lot cleaner this time, which is okay with me, although it gives the whole thing a bit too modern touch.

I wouldn't be surprised if 6 months from now they offer me a promotion. I'm not gonna stick around there longer than I have to though. I'm not gonna keep working at mcdonald's with a college degree even if it's only a liberal arts associate's degree (can't figure out anything useful I want to major in).

I've been working at mine for almost 3 years now. It feels weird when I think about how many people I've seen come and go, how many people I've forgotten and how few people who were there when I started are still there now. I don't have much to complain about though. I wish I got paid more but pretty much everyone there likes me. This job has been a big help in getting me friends, a social life and even a girlfriend. Most of the managers realize that I know pretty much everything about the place and could run it if I had to but the district manager doesn't want me to be promoted me for some reason. I'm gonna look for a better paying job when I finish college in 6 months anyway so I guess the promotion wouldn't matter much anyway. It would just be nice to get some recognition for all the effort I put into trying to keep that place running smoothly.

Yeah I saw the guy from Blood Music mentioning them, I'm not sure what to think of them, the music is okay but I don't dig the vocals that much, although some of those Queen-like harmonies are fine.

Hayden, I'd really recommend checking out the later Genesis stuff. Up until their 1987 album Invisible Touch, they played good progressive rock/pop.

I see you're enjoying the new RoS. I picked it up on a whim and was pleasantly surprised; memorable riffing throughout.

Oh yeah and one more band on the more experimental side that I forgot to mention is this: http://bandzone.cz/abbeyovthelema - similar to modern Abigor. Since we're a small country/scene, I know that guy as well, haha.

Yeah, I think the vocals are my main problem with them. One of them also has this sort of experimental project https://ono0110.bandcamp.com/. And then there's also this band where a guy I know sings: http://bandzone.cz/fishartcollection - which you might enjoy because they play a mix of metal, hardcore and some progressive influences.

This is the band I was referring to in the shout below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0k0-_TxEJ3c Again, not really my kind of thing, but maybe you might enjoy something about it...

Nope, but one of them plays in a band where our drummer plays as well. Actually, he likes Remmirath, haha. Wish I could say the same about their music, but you know my tastes :D

Yeah, I know two of them personally, haha. Not my kind of thing, but I understand why you like them. They are one of the few bands here who play that style (most of other bands just play it safe like everywhere else).

http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/opeth/2014/manchester-academy-2-manchester-england-73cc8251.html The setlist was pretty awesome! Funnily enough, 'Cusp of Eternity' got everyone headbanging more than almost any other song other than maybe the last two. Great song, sounds a lot bigger and more powerful live.
