Royal Albert Hall was MASSIVE gig!!! new version of Impact is masterful, Are We Here?, Sad But True among others were fantastic. they played 90 minutes and played about 12-13 tracks, except Distractions (i think ;) ) they played all of Wonky. looking forward to Rock for People, Czech Rep. and maybe, just maybe London Brixton or one of the other dates in december 2012. if you havent seen them live, then you definitely should, if its somehow possible! :)

Gah, New France would be a classic Orbital track if Zola Jesus kept things more restrained. The bellowing is irritating and kind of ruins the song, but the moany vocals in the beginning/etc. were great.

Wonky is a really awesome collection sounds. Beste electronic music in years. Pity the name sounds like a Teletubby.

orbital was definitively part of the rave scene, and now they're ambient techno, but screw trying to categorise something to a microscopic level

I'm just glad they're still alive after ~20 years, wonky is good, but the s/t on the album is atrocious

I must say I'm a fan of Wonky after a few listens. Not of the name, i think it's a dreadful name, but the whole album is pretty good. I really like Distractions->Stringy Acid->Beelzedub, so i'm repeating those 3 tracks together atm as they flow really nicely together plus i love the sound on them.

also for all the cerebralists expecting some sort of release vaguely resembling idm or the early techno sound... well i guess that boat has sailed for them. i'm nearer to pigeonholing this to the recent trends in dance maximalism. you have to engage with it in the same sort of no-bullshit, dispel-all-cynicism-and-jaded-ironies approach that you would, say, the last Rustie album.

I need more listens really but I agree with MrMushy below and prefer Insides and Snivilization myself. I always felt that one of the downsides of their festival headlining success was a move more towards their dancey side and away from the IDM side that they explored on Insides. Oh for more of the IDM, they were masterful at that.

Wasn't entirely fussed on the early singles, but the whole album is well crafted and i'm sure i will really like it once i get to listen to it a few times. I love Beelzedub though. Something very different to what Orbital usually do and it's great!
