Im still giving the album a chance but at the moment I'm probably listening to Gift most of all. 爪爪爪 is great too, I'm not into nu-metal but I think this is a great cover. I started learning Japanese recently also, I have a book called げんき which teaches the fundamentals of the language. I've not touched on Kanji yet though I must confess xD. And album of the year... I think it would have to be Black Clouds & Silver Linings by Dream Theater though I'm sure you've probably listened to it already yourself - and my favourite Psycho Motel album is also Welcome to the World, I'm really into Bruce Dickinson's solo stuff aswell. Accident of Birth and Chemical Wedding are probably my favourite albums that Bruce has done. また明日!

Are you going to Hard Rock Hell in December ? Lots of NWOBHM and classic rock action, Witchfynde, Girlschool, Angel Witch, Rock Goddess etc.

good stuff on TANK there mate. awesome band. i've been a long time fan of The Damned too - well over ten years now. excellent, longstanding act. Got a whole bunch more NWOBHM reviews up this week. Speedsters [artist]Tröjan[/artist] and [artist]tyga myra[/artist] as well as the unknown and Maiden-esque [artist]rhabstallion[/artist]. Keep up the NWOBHM worship.

oh no, i wont be dissapointed. one of my most listened to songs (and one of my favorites to play along to), is "For the Love Of God", which isn't a shread song at all. i love the shred, but i also love the stuff that is very melodic as well, which isnt shread. im sure i will enjoy it.

i know what you mean, as i have seen a lot of the things he has done on youtube (from interviews, demonstrations, etc). i really like the stuff he does (my favorite being a 18 minuet jam he did with satriani at his studio.)

thanks for the recommendations. i am used to the few songs that don't work at that well, as i listen to buckethead, and he can be very inconsistent with his material. some of it is amazing, and some of it is really out there, experimental, and just plain weird. i've heard of "alive in an ultra world" though, and i've seen him do a few songs off that album and explain them on youtube. ill make sure to check all of those albums out though.

LOL too right about that, I bought the DVD before any cds due to love I have for everyone in the band besides the singer, even Philip Bynoe and was very sadly disappointed. I think all together they could have made a more progressive band rather than so power metal... I remember watching the instrumental parts of the DVD over and over to get my monies worth hahaha.

hey dude, in regards to the comments on the Planet X page, Greg and Allan were invited to the band and both declined. I remember Brett saying something about joining but he couldn't due too not wanting to relocate. On the break, I think Tony and Derek weren't getting along too well, hence not playing on each others projects and the fact that Virgil was, also the myspace page mentioned they all had a BBQ lol to get everything smoothed out between the guys.

Ok, I've listened enough times now I think. It's incredible, all the songs feels like they could've been written by Marty in the first place. It's got his wonderful style all over it. He still surprises me with how melodic he is. I can barely think of an example in his solo where he's not gone with the most melodic solo possible or ruined it with some OTT shredding. It's so interesting to see how many songs from previous albums sound like these covers as well. It shows how inspired he's been by the japanese music scene that I know so little about. And as always, he love-dovey ballad (Second to last track) is amongst the most beautiful guitar tracks I've heard. Interestingly GIFT (second track) contains parts from his own songs. Also, the first track has been so brilliantly altered from the original. Keeps the messy feel but with Marty solos. I was hoping to have God Knows... on here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfQh20oeZxs) but the album doesn't need it =P

Don't mind me hehe, but I was reading that you want to buy Marty's new album? if so, I suggest you use CDJAPAN or HMV this are good and reliable shopping sites from japan. Here are the links: http://www.hmv.co.jp/en/product/detail/3553094 AND http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=AVCD-23839 it's super easy and registration is in engish as well, they ship all over the world. I use both. See ya! =D

Just taking a quick note, it's really awesome on first listen but the one I got has "世界に一つだけの花" (Track 5) on the album as track 10. Does yours have both? And I read somewhere they were anime song covers but I guess they were wrong. I'm not a fan of J-pop either but still, it has the Marty touch.

I actually found yesterday by some fluke that it was out. The thing is, it's all anime song covers so I'm a little unsure as what to think. I wonder how much of his own style he can add to the songs (none of which I've heard admittedly). I'll take a look for it and will definetely listen. I'm in a Friedman mood recently after finally getting "Go Off!". Can't get enough of the solos on X-Ray Eyes.

I assume that expiration also applies to the documentary on the British promotion of the blues (not theft - we all were neglecting our priceless blues artists here until you all rightly took care of them). That story, however, has been well told by a variety of Stateside documentaries that I've had the opportunity to see.

Talk about a ridiculously asynchronous conversation, but... RE: Peter Green documentary. It is not at all old news to me. I had not heard of it at all, in fact. (I don't have an automatic way to get news regarding BBC programs, so I am reliant on you!) I did manage to find it on the BBC site [url=http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00k92x1]here[/url], but I'm paying the price for my failure to check my page, since it is no longer available for playback! (Not that I likely would have found time to spend 90 minutes streaming it on the PC, though, else I'd have been doing stuff here...) I'd buy it if BBC would sell it on DVD, but I'll not stoop to chasing torrents of it. Let me know if you see it air again and I'll recheck the site!

nah, you're just my go to guy for a quick review ; ) lol. I don't know of any of the members except guitarist Chris Broderick, and even his playing is a bit mundane for the little I have heard. I'm not big on power metal, was just hoping they had an album that stood... especially with Broderick in the band... oh well.

Japanophilia (in Japanese: 親日家 shinnichika) or Nipponophilia is an interest in, or love of, Japan and all things Japanese. (Its opposite is Japanophobia.) No shit, it's a real term lol.

hmmm. I reckon it's gonna be Colson on vocals again. His website says its the pinnacle of his playing, including the rock of loudspeaker and a 70 piece orchestra... Still I'm going to hope it's instrumental man.

yay. lol. I do remember reading it somewhere, posted by you I think. He really has lost it hey... Shame, I used to dream that one day he'd make a song as awesome as Forbidden City with good modern production. I can dream lol.
